Two assignments, all ready to print. It's 'only' taken me 5 hours today (plus 3 hours yesterday, and 2 days a week since, um.... February?! Cripes....that's the perfectionist in me coming out!)
I'm all set for a relaxing, study-free Mother's Day now :o)
Want to follow my travels, read what's important to me, laugh when I laugh and get inside my mind? Then read on. Welcome to my little spot in cyberspace, all made possible back in 2001 when I joined the Open University and began my long journey into online education which ended with a shiny BSc Hons Upper Second and an addiction to being online :-)

Passed!
Studying Human Nutrition (SK183)...I passed it :o)
That's it for me now, I've done all the Open University science 10 pointers I like the look of.
Besides, my level 3 courses are keeping me on my toes! I don't need any other distractions.
And it's Friday, so my mood is still motivated :o) This afternoon I managed to get 5 ICT lessons planned for one of my classes, while watching over a class who were making Mother's Day cards and I must admit were angels (all too tired to fuss over anything I think and were enjoying the fact that they didn't have to think too hard about their task!)
Hub is busy putting lining paper up in daughter's bedroom, and kids are all chilling, so next stop is the assignments, while all is quiet....just another thousand words or so and they'll be done and dusted, then I can think about filling my suitcases :o)
Bon weekend!

Lots of news
Firstly, good news...
I can now get into trousers that haven't fit for 2-3 years! And, even better, I can pull them down without undoing the button or zip, LOL! Must buy a belt, I hate 'builder's bums' ;o)
Got m'self a new bikini to celebrate, only mine's black, and I won't look as good as it does this girl, LOL!
And
See those yellow bits... that means it's sunny in Malaga up til the 1st April! A couple more days and I'll be able to see if sun is forecast for our holiday! Not sure I believe in the long term forecasts, but it's nice to dream :o)
Now for the uh-oh news....
exam dates are out 11th October for S320, and 16th October for SD329.
But hey, let's look on the bright side...at least I get a weekend in between them, they could have fallen on the same day.
It's been a pretty tough week at work so far. I had a whole day of teaching on Tuesday, as opposed to 3 lessons, to cover a teacher who was off sick with the same germs as me. Oh yes, and there's chickenpox going around the class...watch this spot (sorry, couldn't resist the pun)....how much d'ya wanna bet with my immune system so rubbish lately that I get it, or shingles, in time for my holiday!!
Had a fun night last night though, took mother-in-law to the Central Theatre in Chatham to hear Katie's choir perform in the Medway Music Festival...no one told me audience participation was expected! But we had fun, singing rounds with the about 6 school choirs from the Medway area, complete with confusing actions! I must admit to having moved my lips without emitting any sounds on more than one occasion. I can't sing at the best of times, and with a dry, sore throat I would sound even worse!
That meant I missed my 8.30p.m-I-will-give-myself-every-chance-to-get-better bedtime and am quite tired today. But let's get back to reality, I have two assignments to finish today, no time to rest!

Private Peaceful
I finished reading this last night. If you want a good, quick read this is the one as it's aimed at 9-12 year olds, I have to say though that I wasn't expecting the ending. I want to rewrite it, not because the author's ending isn't any good, just because I don't like books that choke me up! Well, I suppose I do in a way, that's why I am drawn to survivors' stories.
It's about two teenage brothers, their home life, shared love for a childhood sweetheart, and their short experiences on the Front during WW1.
I would go back to reading my other All Consuming (see sidebar) novel, but my 12 year old has 'borrowed' it, and he really needs reading practice so I'll have to let him keep it for now and find another book to read!
I've stopped sneezing now, and the headache has gone, but I feel wobbly if I'm up on my feet for too long. Gotta rest today, need to get back to work tomorrow, although not sure I'll last the whole morning teaching maths, ICT(ICT for Years 1s I can cope with....representing data pictorally, i.e. pictograms, no great shakes!) and literacy.

Not sure if you can see this, but this is the forecast for Malaga, the city we fly into for our holiday....nooo, not rain, or at least yes it can rain now but not in 20 days time!! I want to swim in the pool and lounge around on a sunbed reading loads of books, not be forced to sightsee from a hired car with windscreen wipers going flip-flap, and the airconditioning (which we made sure we would have) switched off! Sightseeing is one of my favourite things....but not in the rain!
On that dreary note I'm off to bed!
Germs
What is my immune system playing at....I have either flu again, or a very nasty cold. It started with a sore throat last Monday, which I seemed to fight off by resting on my days off from work and it came back with a vengeance (and a headache) after teaching Friday afternoon. Spent the weekend resting (again!) with a permanent heacache, resorted to the Nurofen by Sunday evening and spent Monday on the sofa sleeping. Went sick from work yesterday, just as well as daughter was sick everywhere at 2am, and am off today too. At least I got some sleep last night as the coughing and sneezing subsided, and daughter managed to keep her toast down! I really need to get back to work on Friday, I must have the worst sick record this year :o(
If anyone has any tips on how to get my immune system to actually work do tell me. I haven't found the answer in S320 (but then I haven't actually done much studying lately)!
I could post a picture of the state I look, but instead I'm gonna cheer myself up with before and after photos of my weight loss.....shame about the latest hairdo and those "I'm not feeling very well" eyes, but the bod's looking a bit better than it did :o)
Before (Xmas 2004 and summer 2005)
And last week.....
Almost ship-shape for bikini season ;o)
Ah yes...the holiday...I've ordered the Euros and am going to be looking for some travel insurance online

Faar more appealing than 2 assignments!
Sad news...
From BBC News yesterday....
Reeve's widow dies of lung cancer
Dana Reeve campaigned in favour of stem cell researchDana Reeve, actress and widow of Superman actor Christopher Reeve, has died of lung cancer.
Reeve, 44, who led the Christopher Reeve Foundation, was diagnosed with the disease in August 2005.
She took over the organisation, which he founded, after his death. Reeve cared for her husband for nine years after he was paralysed in an accident.
Reeve, a non-smoker all her life, died on Monday
Former President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said Reeve was "a model of tenacity and grace".
'Wonder Woman'
"Despite the adversity that she faced, Dana bravely met these challenges and was always an extremely devoted wife, mother and advocate. Dana was an inspiration to us and we will miss her," the Clintons said.
Senator Diane Feinstein said of Reeve: "I thought that after everything that she had gone through with Chris that she would have time to smell the flowers and be in the sun. But apparently that was not meant to be."
Actress Catherine Zeta Jones, a supporter of the foundation, said of Reeve recently: "She's better than Superwoman, she's Wonder Woman. Dana is like a saint to me."

A whole month!
I suppose this month will fly by, just like February did.
This month I am hoping to:
lose 8 pounds (that's pushing it a bit!)
write 2 TMAs (ditto...'cos I'm behind on the reading by 2 weeks!)
Start next term's lesson planning (seeing as I will only have two days at home after our trip to Spain before school starts again)
This month I am looking forward to:
ordering my Euros
packing our cases
losing 8 pounds (call me Miss Optimist!)
Goodness knows what clothes will fit if I lose the 8 lbs! I can already get out of my jeans without undoing the button or zip, and my skirts are dangling from my hips, not my waist! Have I ever mentioned that I have approx. 15-20 pairs of jeans in the back of my wardrobe that I refuse to part with, in case they one day fit again! Maybe they'll get placed at the front this year after all.....
